The Office of Personnel Management moved the needle — albeit slightly — on improving its retirement processing in June after posting its worst numbers in a year in May.
OPM processed 68.7 percent of its claims in 60 days or less, up from last month’s 68 percent.
The agency also reduced its inventory by more than 800 claims since May. The backlog now stands at 14,511. At this point, OPM had expected its inventory to be 11,542.
OPM fell just shy of its goal for June, processing 7,783 claims when it had hoped to clear 8,000. It also received fewer claims than it had expected: rather than the 7,500 it counted on. OPM insted received just 6,920.
