SC Magazine reports that Macs and other Apple products will be targets of malware in 2011.
Several security companies say this year will be the year that attacks on Apple platforms and devices finally reach a tipping point.
McAfee has put out its annual IT Security watchlist, SC Magazine reports. The list warns about more sophisticated malware — including botnets and trojans — targeting Mac platforms.
What’s to blame? McAfee says it’s the popularity of things like iPads and iPhones in business environments, combined with users lack of understanding about security measures for Apple products.
Meanwhile, PandaLabs is predicting a similar increase in threats, especially as the market share for Mac users gets bigger.
CoreTrace is an application whitelisting firm. SC reports that CoreTrace also foresees many more exploits in 2011 aimed at mobile devices such as those running Apple iOS.
