The apparent attack on Christmas Day on Northwest Flight 253 has brought to light questions about the screening process for passengers.
Some critics say the incident could have been averted if the suspect had gone through a see-through scanning machine that uses whole-body imaging technology to detect explosive devices and materials hidden underneath a person’s clothing.
Peter Kant is the vice president of global government affairs for Rapiscan, which has installed scanning systems in more than 100 countries.
He joins us to discuss the progress being made to upgrade see-through scanning machines and the prospects for cargo screening.
