The largest gathering of foreign area officers took place this month at the Naval Postgraduate School in California. Speakers from the armed forces, the diplomatic corps and the academic community met for a series of panel discussions focusing on the issues confronting diplomats globally. Both Lieutenant Commander Luke Gunnels, a future FAO, and Colonel Mark Chakwin, an FAO and an instructor at NPS were part of the conference. They joined us before the conference to discuss the goals of the event.
