The Coast Guard has crafted strict new rules about the use of smart phones and other electronic devices on Coast Guard vessels. That policy might also be expanded to include private vessels in any waters where the Coast Guard has oversight. Federal News Radio talked with Rear Admiral Brian Salerno, the Deputy Commandant for Operations at U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters. He says that there’s one main reason why they felt the need to get this policy in place.
