The federal government pours billions of dollars into Afghanistan each year to pay for reconstruction projects there. But how much of that money is wasted? Last week, we spoke with Mike Thibault of the Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Earlier this week, that group spoke with the outgoing special inspector general for Afghanistan Reconstruction, who has been criticized for the way he’s overseen U.S. funded projects in the country. Commission Co-chair Mike Thibault joins us again with a recap of Monday’s hearing.
