Tight budgets and a long procurement process will drive federal agencies into outsourcing cybersecurity. They’ll buy it as a service instead of purchasing software to install and monitor agency systems.
That prediction from Samuel Chun, the director of cybersecurity Hewlett Packard’s public sector practice. Chun tells reporters with cyber attacks rising exponentially, agencies can’t afford enough people and technology to tackle the job themselves.
Chun says what CIOs really want is the effect of good tools and cybersecurity management, not buying all the moving parts. Chun says HP will launch 40 security services in the next 18 months.
