FBI agents are having trouble investigating cyber attacks involving national security. They say the problem is that they don’t have the technical expertise, or the manpower. A report by the Justice Department’s Inspector General finds that new cyber agents are not equipped to assume responsibility for a national intrusion investigation. The FBI has a plan for agents to become cyber security experts with 12 core courses and on-the-job training. But the IG report doesn’t say how many agents have competed the training.
