Lower orders drive up Defense program costs

The costs of weapons and communications systems are on the rise.

DOD might be talking budget cuts, but the costs of weapons and communications systems are on the rise. Defense News reports the Pentagon will up its cost estimates for 95 major acquisition programs. The additional tab could total $64 billion. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter is among the programs with a new, higher price tag. Many of the new estimates stem from changes in quantities that the Pentagon plans to buy.
