Every agency is in search of good leaders and good managers. But it is important to recognize the distinction. There are characteristics that senior officials should keep in mind when hiring leaders and managers. Chris Inglis is the deputy director at the National Security Agency. He is at the Federal Senior Managment Conference in Cambridge, Maryland, where he talked about how NSA is making sure the right people rise to the top. He says they work hard to make sure that supervisors get proper training ensure they’re learning leadership skills, and not just management techniques.
