Two prominent lawmakers think the Energy Department should have authority to order action during a cyber attack on the electrical grid. They’ve introduced a bill to make that idea into law. NextGov reports, the chairman and ranking members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources committee have the backing of the industry and the Energy Department itself. New Mexico Democrat Jeff Bingaman and Alaska Republican Lisa Murkowski plan to make the DOE provision part of a bigger energy package later in the session.
