A computer bug similar to spyware has been developed by the FBI to trace the source of cyber crimes, and it remains on a suspect’s machine forever. Next Gov reports, secret documents released under the Freedom of Information Act, reveal the names of agencies that have sought to use the software, including the U.S. Air Force. The software reportedly helped catch a hacker who broke into systems at Cisco, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and various other U.S. national laboratories in 2005.
