Hackers claim Senate website break-in
A band of computer hackers who pride themselves on attacking vulnerable networks for fun accessed a Senate server that supports the chamber\'s public website.
The Sergeant at Arms Office says the Senate’s website has been hacked. It has ordered a review of all Senate computer sites. A Capitol Hill law enforcement official says that while the intrusion is inconvenient, it doesn’t compromise the security of the Senate’s network, its members or staff. The hackers said the release was a “just for kicks” attempt to help the government “fix their issues.” Lulz has claimed responsibility for a string of attacks, including hacking into the systems of Sony and Nintendo, defacing the PBS website, and stealing nearly 200 passwords from InfraGard – a partnership devoted to Internet security issues.
