Embedded security flaws are causing concern. Learn more in today\'s cybersecurity update
For years, federal cybersecurity officials have worried about whether electronic equipment might contain embedded security flaws. Turns out, those fears are well founded. The government knows of instances where imported equipment contained security holes. That’s according to Greg Shaffer, acting deputy undersecretary of the Homeland Security Department National Protection and Programs Directorate. NextGov reports, Shaffer confirmed the existence flawed equipment. He said so under questioning at yesterday’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing.
