Coordination lacking between brain injury treatment programs

Pentagon study says coordination missing between the more than 200 programs devoted to brain injuries and psychological health.

A study done for the Pentagon finds little coordination between the more than 200 programs devoted to brain injuries and psychological health, the Associated Press reported.

The Rand Corporation study says there are so many programs, they sometimes overlap, and there’s no uniform way to share findings and evaluate whether the programs work. The study says there’s a “high risk” that money is not being well spent.

A Pentagon spokesman says each branch of the service can create its own programs, and local commanders can create or adapt programs to fit needs. The spokesman says military officials are still reviewing the report, but some of the recommendations are already being implemented.
