Bill would fund FBI cyber initiatives

Draft funding bill would give FBI the full cyber-investigation budget it asked for, about $166 million.

The FBI is set to welcome more cyber special agents into the fold.

A draft funding bill provides the bureau more funding for a number of different initiatives, including training cyber field agents, monitoring cyber intrusion and fighting cyber terrorism from threats around the world.

FBI was granted the full cyber-investigation budget it asked for, about $166 million. That’s an increase of 13 percent from 2011. It helps the bureau fund 42 new positions, including 14 cyber special agents.
