Mobile devices are popping up in the workplace everywhere, including in the health care field. But that’s a concern for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
ONC said it wants to encourage the adoption of new technologies in clinical settings, but it also want to make sure patient privacy is kept safe and secure.
Adoption of mobile devices is “really skyrocketing,” said Joy Pritts, ONC’s chief privacy officer, in an interview with The Federal Drive with Tom Temin. However, she added, “Ensuring the proper security does not seem to be keeping pace.”
The office is trying to outline a collection of good practices for privacy and security for mobile health IT.
