A high-ranking Chinese general has renewed his call for more international cooperation in cybersecurity.

Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of the general staff of the People’s Liberation Army, is also head of the China Institute for International Strategic Studies. That group held a small conference in Beijing. Xinhuanet reported, Ma said grim online risks require nations to work together. He said the cybersecurity issue is creeping from the virtual world into the real world. Ma said nations don’t have widely recognized and accepted rules for cyberspace. China has drafted an international cybersecurity code it wants the United Nations to debate.
