John Pendelton: The more you know, the more you save

Lack of data is the main hurdle keeping the Department of Defense from saving billions on its budget.

The Defense Department may house the most powerful military ever known, but it also houses the world's biggest bureaucracy. All those people in that five-sided building gets expensive. DoD officials have identified tens of billions of dollars in potential savings. But they can't seem to get there. Part of the problem is lack of data. That's according to the Government Accountability Office. John Pendleton, director of defense capabilities and management issues at the GAO joined Federal Drive with Tom Temin with more.
