The Thrift Savings Plan posted across-the-board positive numbers for the second consecutive month in April, a period of calm that stood out against the retirement fund’s dismal start to 2016.

While the TSP showed signs of stability, none of the retirement funds posted higher numbers than they had in March, when most funds posted the best monthly funds of the year so far.

The I Fund, which invests in international stocks, posted the biggest monthly return in April at 1.89 percent, but remains in the negative for the past 12 months at -9.94 percent.

The S Fund, which invests in small cap stocks, came in at 1.73 percent this month, compared to 8.24 percent in March. It too remains in the negative at -8.53 percent for the past 12 months.

The TSP’s safest bet, the G Fund, which invests in U.S. government bonds, remained nearly unchanged, posting 0.14 percent in April, compared to 0.15 in March. The fund also remains almost unaffected at 2.05 percent in the past 12 months.

The C fund posted 0.39 percent, a sizable difference from the 6.79 percent it posted in March. For the past 12 months, it’s at 1.29 percent.

The F fund, a fixed income index investment fund, posted 0.41 percent this month, down from 0.93 percent in March It improved in the last 12 months, going from 2.35 percent to 3.05 percent.

All of the TSP’s lifecycle funds, except for the L income fund, remain in the negative for the last 12 months.
