The Thrift Savings Plan featured mostly shrinking returns in October. While none of the funds dipped far enough to post negative returns, only three funds showed growth since September.
The fixed-income index investment F fund showed the most improvement, gaining 0.55 percent since September, bringing it out of the red and just barely into the black at 0.07 percent.
The C fund, based on stocks from the S&P index, posted the highest returns at 2.33 percent, up 0.27 percent from September.
The G fund, a low-risk-low-reward investment in Treasury securities, continued to inch upward, gaining 0.02 percent over September for a total of 0.19 percent returns in October.
The small-cap stocks S fund tumbled the farthest, falling from 4.26 percent in September to 1.41 percent in October. It still boasts the highest returns, at 25.68 percent, over the last 12 months.
Meanwhile, the international stocks I fund dropped almost a full percentage point, coming in at 1.54 percent. It has the highest year-to-date returns at 22.15 percent.
All of the TSP lifecycle funds fell slightly in October. L Income took the smallest hit, falling only 0.06 percent, for a final return of 0.54 percent. L 2050 saw the biggest decrease, falling by 0.51 percent, but still managed to post the highest return of the lifecycle funds at 1.63 percent.
