Bobby German Acting CIO May 28, 2009
NASA is consolidating several large technology contracts into five to provide enterprisewide services under the umbrella called I3P.
NASA acting chief information officer Bobby German says getting these multi-billion contracts in place is his highest priority.
NASA recently issued draft request for proposals for all five contracts and held a two-day industry day that brought in more than 500 vendors.
While the I3P contract takes up a lot of his time, German says expanding the agency’s use of the federal secure identification card, under Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12, and adding capabilities to NASA’s security operations center at Ames Research Center are not far behind.
He also says he is closely watching the development of Spacebook, NASA’s version of Facebook for scientists.
