Meeting the needs of troops in the field is the responsibility of the Defense Department’s supply chain agencies. The Defense Acquisition Reform Panel heard from leaders of two of them last week, and the GAO presented some results of research they’ve done on how well the supply chain is managed. The hearing was called “DOD Supply Chain Management: Can the Department Identify and Meet its Supply Needs Efficiently?” Witnesses included Air Force Major General Gary McCoy, Commander of the Air Force Global Logistics Support Center; Nancy Heimbaugh, Senior Procurement Executive and Director of Acquisition Management at the Defense Logistics Agency; and William Solis, Director of the Defense Capabilities and Management Team at the Government Accountability Office.
