Attempted bombing now confirmed as al Qaeda attack

The attempted bombing of Southwest Flight 253 by an al Qaeda operative continues to be near the top of the priority list for the White House and the Department of Homeland Security.

President Obama on Sunday said that al Qaeda was behind the plot to blow up a Detroit-bound airliner on Christmas Day.
