Social Security Administration battles claims backlog

WFED\'s Jason Miller reports.

The Social Security Administration has seen a huge increase in the number of citizens applying for disability benefits over the last two years.

This adds to an existing backlog of applications that SSA has been trying to reduce for last few years.

House lawmakers received an update on how well SSA is dealing with the new claims because of the recession and how it’s affecting the backlog.
