The crusade for greener aviation

Meet this week\'s SAMMIES finalist

We continue our Sammies Tracker series, speaking to finalists in this year’s Service to America Medals from the Partnership for Public Service. Are you flying out of town anytime soon? Or maybe you’ve just returned. This week’s Sammie’s finalist is credited with helping to make commercial planes quieter and more eco-friendly. Carl Burleson leads the FAA’s Office of Environment and Energy. He works with government and industry in hopes of building a quieter, cleaner and more energy-efficient aviation system. Burleson is a finalist in the Science and Environment Sammies category. And he joins the Federal Drive to explain his work.
