The Israel Antiquities Authority and Google are digitizing the 2000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls, The Washington Post reports.

Scholars say the 900 documents were written between the second century B.C. and the first century A.D. and provide insights into the history of Judaism and early Christianity, according to the article.

The Scrolls will be digitally photographed using infrared and multi-spectral imaging, based on techniques developed at NASA.

Once only available to a select group of scholars, the Scrolls will be available online for anyone to see. The first images will be online in a few months.
