The House of Representatives is expected to vote Wednesday afternoon on a long-term continuing resolution that includes the president’s proposed two-year pay freeze for federal civilian employees, a Democratic aide tells Federal News Radio.

President Obama announced a pay freeze Nov. 29 to all non-military federal pay for 2011 and 2012.

The freeze would save $2 billion in 2011 and $5 billion over the next two years, said Jeff Zients, the Office of Management and Budget’s deputy director for management and chief performance officer.

Democrats, who still control the House in the lame duck session, are also trying to freeze agencies’ budgets at 2010 levels.
