The State Department is going through a major reorganization. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says part of that is a new coordinator for cyber security to help ensure classified material remains protected. The new post was being created as part of a larger plan to reform the department and U.S. diplomacy to make it more streamlined, effective, and faster at responding to international crises and developments. The new plans are contained in the State Department’s first Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review which calls for hiring 5,500 new personnel, creating new positions and consolidating others, and reducing the government’s reliance on contractors.
