Overall, the Pentagon\'s request for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan is $118 billion, a $42 billion reduction from its 2011 request.
The drawdown of forces in Iraq will allow the Army to reduce what it spends on overseas contingency operations by 30 percent in 2012. Defense News reports the Army is requesting $71-billion for it’s operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, down from $102 billion requested in 2011.
