December 2, 2014 — This week on “Federal Tech Talk”, host John Gilroy interviews Kevin Jackson, CEO of the GovCloud Network.
After his successful career in the military he worked for some local companies and now has created a company that helps govies and commercial folks understand the cloud.
Jackson spent many years as a Naval aviator. Today, he is fully committed to helping people learn about the cloud. You could say he has moved from one cloud to another.
He is very active on social media. In 2013, he was on the list for the “must read” federal government information technology bloggers list from FedTech Magazine. He has 27K followers on Twitter and has an additional two personas where he has thousands more.
During the interview, Jackson gives us his perspective on challenges that we face when we attempt to move to the cloud.
He gives a clear description of a concept called a “hybrid” cloud. He indicated that if a team can get a good grasp of the dependencies of an application they can decide whether or not it is a candidate for a hybrid cloud environment.
One interesting aspect of the conversation was when it turned to helping veterans get jobs. Kevin is the executive director of Vets 360-Cloud, an organization whose mission is to provide the professional and interpersonal skills needed in civilian life.
