Where Does the Money Go?

As Congress considers what course to take on the financial market bailout, they are learning about what might happen to the Federal budget if the Treasury Department takes on $700 billion dollars in debt. Peter Orszag, Director of the Congressional Budget Office, told the House Budget Committee about the potential budget impact at a hearing yesterday. Among the questions the Director answered from Committee Chairman John Spratt were questions about scoring the budget, or where the money will go on the Federal books.
