The Pentagon is working on a plan to improve cost controls for weapons systems, after the Government Accountability Office issued a report about cost escalations. The Senate Homeland Security Subcommittee on Federal Financial Management heard about the Pentagon’s plan from Dr. James Finley, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology. He answered questions from Subcommittee Chairman Tom Carper and ranking member Tom Coburn.

Transition: On Track

Many Congressional committees are keeping an eye on how your agency, and all the others, are preparing for the upcoming transition. The House Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Management was just the latest to check on how the agencies are doing. One witness at Wednesday’s hearing was Professor Martha Kumar, Director of the White House Transition Project. She talked to me today about her testimony, the importance of the transition team’s relationship with Congress, and how the agencies are doing getting ready for the handoff.
