Oversight, Over and Over

The House Homeland Security Committee‘s subcommittee on Management, Investigations, and Oversight took a look at the procurement process at DHS yesterday. The committee called the hearing “Waste, Abuse and Mismanagement: Calculating the Cost of DHS Failed Contracts” Our coverage of the hearing starts with a question from subcommittee chairman Chris Carney. He asked DHS’s deputy Chief Procurement Officer Richard Gunderson about numbers in the procurement force.

Collaboration Shmollaboration

Collaboration is one of the buzz words people are hearing all over the federal government. And it’s also being talked about in government offices all around the world. One of the sources of tension in collaboration is the generational gap…younger workers expect to use collaboration tools, while some leaders aren’t convinced of their relevance. Anthony Williams is an expert on collaboration in the public sector, and the co-author of “Wikinomics: How Mass Collaboration Changes Everything.” He gave Chris Dorobek and me some solutions for easing those tensions; but he started with a primer on collaboration for the uninitiated.
