The House rejected the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 this afternoon, and Thursday is the next likely day for either side of Capitol Hill to take action. Coordinating Council Expansion

Homeland Security Presidential Directive-7 established 17 Coordinating Councils with leaders from private-sector companies to work with DHS on identifying resources and infrastructure. The first Coordinating Council to be added after the initial 17 is now on duty–the Critical Manufacturing Sector Coordinating Council. The Chairman of the new Council, Richard Douglas of United States Steel, told us why the councils are important, what they do, and how they interact with DHS.
