Roadmap to Transition
The switch to a new administration in January is on the minds of many people around Washington. One of the groups working on solutions for minimizing the disruption in getting government business done is the Partnership for Public Service. They think the financial bailout package in Congress should be just the start of a real reform effort. Their “Roadmap to Reform: A Management Framework for the Next Administration” calls for a broad reshaping of government. The Partnership’s senior program manager, Katie Malague, told me about the Roadmap and what they think real reform looks like.

The changes in managing people–and the people who are being managed–have been tremendous in the last 25 years. “The One Minute Manager” has been a classic management book since its release a quarter-century ago, but Holly Green thought some of the context of that book could use some updating for today’s leaders. She’s done that with “More Than a Minute: How to Be an Effective Leader and Manager in Today’s Changing World.” She talked about what has changed, and how her book addresses it.
