Just like private-sector businesses, agencies are trying to squeeze out every last penny from IT budgets. One way is to extend the life of laptop inventories and other IT hardware. But Jack Gold of J. Gold Associates told me that his research shows you’ll spend far more money maintaining old machines than you will spend buying new ones.
