Will agencies continue hiring reform progress in 2012?

Agencies have made progress on hiring reform — the Office of Personnel Management says so.

Tim McManus, vice president for education and outreach at the Partnership for Public Service, joined In Depth with Francis Rose to discuss the progress agencies have made on federal hiring reform over the past two years.

Earlier this month, OPM Associate Director of Employee Services Angela Bailey sent a memo to agency human resources directors highlighting hiring progress in a number of areas.

Hiring time was shortened by about a month, job announcements have been cut to five pages or less and most agencies have nixed the dreaded essays in favor of resumes.
