From Our Reporters:

  • The Defense Department is still a long way off from picking a successor to its aging electronic health records system. But the Pentagon says whatever it settles on, it’s committed to open data standards and proprietary solutions are off limits. Federal News Radio’s Jared Serbu says while DoD decided to go with a competitive bidding process, it’s leaving the door open to adopting a variant of the VistA system the Veterans Affairs Department uses. Read Jared’s story or listen to his report.
  • New leaders for federal agencies are taking their seats — some permanently, some temporarily. One of the permanent leaders, potentially, is Acting GSA Administrator Dan Tangherlini. Federal News Radio host Tom Temin spoke with Francis about why the nomination isn’t a surprise. Listen to the interview.
  • Your agency can now access a long list of tools, guidance and advice for jumping deeper into the mobile world. The Office of Management and Budget marked the one-year anniversary of the Digital Government Strategy today by expanding the range of ways agencies can implement smartphones, tablet computers and mobile apps. Federal News Radio’s Jason Miller covered the anniversary. Read his article and listen to his report.
