A potential government shutdown is only a few hours away. But your agency may find it harder to start the government up once Congress makes a deal than to shut it down now. Sally Katzen, senior advisor at the Podesta Group, was administrator for the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at OMB during the 1995-96 shutdown and later served as deputy director for management.
Your agency’s chief information security officer has a problem that might not have a solution. Today, we listened to highlights from the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The committee is looking at the future employee and financial well being at the Postal Service. We also heard highlights from a hearing from Thursday called “Outside the Box: Reforming and Renewing the Postal Service, Promoting a 21st Century Workforce.” The witnesses were Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe and Chief Executive Officer of the Postal Service Jonathan Foley, Director of Planning and Policy Analysis at the Office of Personnel Management Frank Todisco, Chief Actuary of the Government Accountability Office and Director for Health Care at the GAO John Dicken.
