Virtually everyone in the Pentagon believes that a second year of sequestration would be more painful that what the department went through in 2013. But the official who oversees acquisition and research and development matters believes his programs will be hit twice as hard as the rest of the DoD budget.

On Pentagon Solutions, we listened to highlights from an event at the Heritage Foundation called “Mayday, the Decline of American Naval Supremacy.” It featured Seth Cropsey, former Deputy Undersecretary of the Navy and senior fellow at the Hudson Institute. He talked about the basics of the Navy’s struggles by defining what mayday actually means and how it describes its present-day challenges.
