Innovative technologies fund gets slight boost
The bill includes $50 million for the General Services Administration\'s Office of Citizens and Innovative Technologies.

The subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee passed a spending bill that gives a slight boost to funding for transparency projects for fiscal year 2012.
The bill includes $50 million for the General Services Administration’s Office of Citizen Services and Innovative Technologies. In 2011, the fund received $34.2 million.
But according to OMB Watch, the amount is still short of the $73.9 million requested by the Obama administration.
GSA also manages the electronic government or e-gov fund, which was cut by 75 percent to $8 million for 2011. The House subcommittee bill moves the e-gov fund into OCSIT.
The e-gov fund supports transparency websites such as Data.gov and USAspending.gov.
OMBWatch and 30 other transparency groups sent a letter to the House subcommittee urging restoration of e-gov funds.
