NSPS transition chief moves to missile agency
The man leading the transition of more than 200,000 defense civilian workers into new pay systems has accepted a job at the Missile Defense Agency.

The man leading the transition of more than 200,000 defense civilian workers into new pay systems has accepted a job at the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
John James Jr., former National Security Personnel System (NSPS) transition director, began working as the MDA executive director on May 23.
“This is a lifelong career goal for me,” James said in a posting on the NSPS website. “I am truly excited over the prospect of what lies ahead.”
Pat Tamburrino Jr., deputy assistant secretary for civilian personnel policy, will oversee NSPS transition activities.
James oversaw DoD’s effort to shut down NSPS, a mandate from Congress in the 2010 defense authorization bill. As of May 20, 199,530 employees had completed the transition out of NSPS, according to DoD. This represents more than 88 percent of the 226,000 employees working under the system when the transitions began in February 2010.
The remaining employees will move out of NSPS in the fall, according to the NSPS website.
