By signing a proclamation each year, the president declares November Military Family Month. The month serves as a way to show gratitude to the nation’s military service members and their families for their sacrifices. “During Military Family Month, we pay tribute to and thank our military families for their service to our country, and we recognize the extraordinary ways in which they give of themselves for us all,” President Obama said in this year’s proclamation.

This month’s In Focus series will highlight efforts by those connected to the military community to bring awareness and solutions to the challenges military families face.

Andrea Inserra, a Booz Allen Hamilton Senior Vice President, is recognized for her expertise in program and system management, organizational re-engineering and transformation within the healthcare market.

Ms. Inserra leads the Firm’s Military Health business in the areas of healthcare transformation, research and development, public health and clinical operations services. She provides leadership in healthcare delivery transformation supporting military health clients identify and implement improvements in their healthcare programs so that they provide the greatest benefit to U.S. service members and their families.

She also leads the Firm’s clinical services offering including behavioral health supporting programs to
enhance the well-being and psychological health for service members, veterans, and military families.
Ms. Inserra implemented a community based model to facilitate collaboration and improve the
integration of efforts across federal, private and nonprofit organizations in addressing the challenges of the military and their families. These nation-wide pro-bono community based summits addressed the challenges military families face including unemployment, education, behavioral and physical health issues, access to care and veteran treatment courts.

Ms. Inserra is an active leader working with the private sector, government and NGOs leaders to address the reintegration, including health needs, of our military, veterans and their families. Ms. Inserra chairs the Firm’s Veterans Agenda to provide ongoing support to veterans and military families within and outside of the Firm by providing best-in-class benefits, partnering with nonprofit organizations, and engaging in community volunteerism.

Prior to joining Booz Allen, Ms. Inserra served in engineering positions for Mobil Oil Corporation and
Armstrong World Industries. She currently serves on the Elizabeth Dole Foundation National Advisory Board for Caring For Military Families and the Board of Directors for the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) Consulting Services, Inc. She holds an MBA from the Pennsylvania State University and a BS in Industrial Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
