GSA’s $48B contract gets new name, ready for next step

The General Services Administration is changing the name of its next large governmentwide multiple award contract, Integrations, and moving it to the next phase of development.

Steve Kempf, commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service, said Integrations will now be called OASIS, or One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services.

“We believe the name OASIS, generated with input from industry members, is representative of the true value this vehicle will bring to the federal government,” Kempf said. “This solution, known for the past year as Integrations, will break barriers in the world of acquisition by providing our customers with a total integrated solution that reaches across the enterprise.”

In addition to the new name, Kempf said FAS regions 7 and 10 are leading a collaborative effort along with the Office of General Supplies and Services, Office of Information Technology Services and Office of Assisted Acquisition Services to ensure the potentially $48 billion contract meets the needs of customers across the government space.

Kempf also said FAS soon will finalize and post the business case to the Office of Management and Budget’s MAX website. The Office of Federal Procurement Policy required agencies starting in January to post business cases for all new multiple award contracts.

“We believe this action will increase buy-in governmentwide and result in early adoption of the new vehicle,” Kempf said.

The name change comes about a week after Kempf named Jim Ghiloni as the OASIS program manager.

Ghiloni will lead the effort to finalize the schedule, which will be posted with clear milestones in the coming months.

FAS also will establish a customer working group from across the government to ensure the needs of OASIS’ customers are reflected in every aspect of the acquisition.

Kempf said FAS will also continue to talk to and collaborate with industry in the development of OASIS through the social media site, GSA Interact.

“We plan to schedule webinars with various industry organizations over the next few months and will also be using GSA Expo 2012 to host listening sessions with representatives from the OASIS team,” Kempf said.
