Senior Executives Association President Carol Bonosaro is stepping down after holding the position for 29 years, the SEA Board of Directors announced Wednesday.
SEA has selected a new president, who will be introduced to members “in the near future,” the board said in a press release.
Bonosaro, who served as the association’s president since 1986, will leave SEA on Nov. 4. After her departure, she will hold the title of president emeritus.
“It is with very mixed feelings that I leave the association,” Bonosaro said.. “I have been extremely fortunate to do work about which I am passionate and to meet and interact with talented career executives with critical responsibilities, many of whose accomplishments have been extraordinary. It’s been an incredible journey, but I am looking forward to my new role and helping to ensure that SEA will continue to be successful in representing the interests of the career federal executive service.”
Bonosaro leaves as the association marks its 35th anniversary. She served as a member of SEA’s Board of Directors from 1981-1986, and chaired the board from 1983-1986.
As president, Bonosaro advocated for a raise in executives’ pay in the 1989 Ethics Reform Act and led the association’s campaign to overturn the STOCK Act’s requirement to post executive’s’ annual financial reports online. She also created the SEA Professional Development League’s annual Presidential Distinguished Rank Award banquet, which awards excellence in the Senior Executive Service.
“We are thankful to Carol for her stalwart support of SEA and all Senior Executives, and wish her well in her future endeavors, which will include ongoing support to SEA ideals,” SEA Board Chair Barbara Pabotoy said.
Following her resignation, Bonosaro plans to relocate to Boynton Beach, Florida, where her daughter resides.
