If confirmed, Mike Pompeo, President Donald Trump’s pick for Secretary of State and Rex Tillerson’s successor, would inherit a workforce of more than 10,000 employees. In light of Pompeo’s Senate confirmation hearing April 12, the nonpartisan, nonprofit Partnership for Public Service and Federal News Radio gathered data on career civil servant departures, employee engagement levels, senior leadership and political appointments at the agency.
