Mike Pompeo has been nominated to lead the State Department, but what shape is the agency in and how does its workplace compare to other large federal agencies?
In 2017, State received its lowest-ever employee engagement score on the Partnership’s Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings, coming in eighth place out of 18 large federal agencies. This represented a 2.8-point decline from 2016 and the first time that the department did not make the top five for large agencies since 2011.
