It’s an issue that seems to be on everyone’s lips.

No, not the presidential transition, but cloud computing.

Is this just a passing fad, or another word for the old idea of time sharing, or something radically new?

And — is it secure?

We talk with an experienced cloud user, Prof. Philip Resnik of the University of Maryland.

An expert in linguistics and advanced computer studies, he describes computing breakthroughs that never could have been achieved if he didn’t have access to the cloud.

We also talk with Prof. Michael Nelson, visiting professor of Internet studies at Georgetown University, and former Clinton administration official, who discusses the security considerations of cloud computing.

Turns out, the cloud might be safer than your own data center.
