The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is giving $2 billion toward advancing health IT. But where exactly is that money going? Doctors, hospitals and clinics will get $300 million to create electronic health records. About $24 million will go toward improving privacy and security. The National Institute of Standards and Technology will get $20 million to improve integration and create standard testing infrastructure. After all that, there’s still about $1.7 billion leftover.
